Cooling Check:
- Check operating head pressure, suction pressure, and superheat.
- Check the condenser for coil blockage, and wash out if needed.
- Check compressor starting and running amps.
- Ensure starting devices are switching properly.
- Inspect accessible areas for signs of leaks and rust.
- Ensure the refrigeration charge is correct.
- Check Hi & Low-pressure safety controls.
- Oil condenser fan motor. Ensure that the outdoor fan blade is free of vibration and not bent. Check running amps & for overheating.
- Ensure all installed time delays function properly.
- Inspect compressor terminal wiring. Ensure no signs of burning, overheating, brittle insulation, or pinching. Inspect start and run capacitors for signs of arcing and deterioration.
Heating Check:
- Replace or wash the air filters.
- Oil indoor blower motor. (If needed and oil able).
- Check the indoor blower motor V-belt and tension.
- Check the indoor thermostat for proper operation.
- Check for visible signs of poor electrical connections.
- Check the indoor blower wheel for dirt and balance.
- Cycle the indoor fan relay and check for proper operation.
- Check the gas valve for proper operation.
- Check and cycle fan safety and upper limit switch.
- Check flame safety limits and safety controls.
- Check control transformers’ output voltage & or FLA.
- Check indoor blower motor bearings & shaft.
- Check the indoor blower motor run capacitor.
- Check the indoor blower motor amp draw.
- Check main burners for proper ignition & burning flame.
- Cycle & check out electronic ignition controls.
- Cycle & check combustion air/induced draft blower.
- Check for proper operation of the draft inducer.
- Check the thermocouple for proper operation.
- Check the pilot flame for the proper burning flame.
- Check blower door switch safety & furnace covers.
